A Single tooth dental implant has many advantages over other tooth replacement options. Apart from looking and functioning like a natural tooth, a dental implant replaces the tooth without any damage to the health of neighboring teeth.
The approach for replacing the lost single tooth is either by taking the support of bone (Dental Implant) or by the support of adjacent teeth.(Conventional Fixed bridges/FPD) or by a simple flipper.
In conventional methods, a bridge is fabricated taking adjacent two teeth as an anchorage by grinding them which can in future cause decay of the teeth taken as anchorage. Also, the bone in the area where the tooth is replaced will undergo resorption or get ditched in the future leading to space underneath the bridge.
The advantage of restoring with a dental implant is that the adjacent teeth are untouched and the bone at the site of a lost tooth is preserved as the implant stimulates the tooth root.
